Dungeonographer 1.0 Released; Classic Blue & Isometric Maps Made Easy

Dungeonographer has reached its 1.0 milestone!  The last feature to add before marking Dungeonographer 1.0 was the “blue shift” function. If you have a classic line-art style map, when you choose File | Resize and Export as PNG Image (or Select Area, Resize and Export Area as PNG Image) you can choose to shift the color of the map to the shade of blue found in many classic RPG dungeon maps.  Further, you can click a checkbox to make the map an isometric map.  (My thanks to accomplice David Garfield for the isometric transformation.) See the pictures below.

Other things new to this release:

  • Several map items for shrubs and rubble were added.
  • The freehand line drawing mode was enhanced to allow clicking from point to point.  (The snap to vertex drawing mode allowed clicking point to point, but it would shift the points to the nearest spot at the edge of a square or 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4 across or up and down.)

I do have one more big Dungeonographer feature that will be added in the next week or three.  Keep your eyes peeled for an announcement about that.

  1. I was excited to hear about the old school look and colors, but I have to admit it is saddening to see that once it is changed to isometric view, the area numbers do not rotate as well.

  2. Thanks for your interest!
If you installed the pro version the “easy” way (java web start) it is updated automatically each time you start it (if you’re online). 1.05e is the latest, so you’ve already got these changes. (And the random dungeon generator which was also noted here a few weeks ago.)

(If you had installed the pro version in another way, you would just re-install from the download page. The link to that is emailed to everyone who buys, and I’m happy to email it out to any buyer who forgot/lost it.)
