  • Appear to be twisted, evil manta rays.
  • 8 feet from wingtip-to-wingtip an over 100lbs.
  • They live far underground.
  • They have above average intelligence, but they are mistrustful of all creatures, including their own kind.
  • Their thought processes are alien and only those of very high intelligence are likely to communicate with a cloaker.
  • Their shape naturally disguises them as cloaks (hence their common name “cloaker”) and tapestries.
  • Their true name is unpronounceable and all but forgotten.
  • A very rare number are priests of ancient gods practicing horrible rites toward sinister goals.
  • Cloakers have rear-eye spots, so they can not be flanked.
  • A cloaker’s moan at the lowest level can cause nervousness and unease and numbs the minds of those who listen for too long.
  • At the next level a cloaker’s moan can cause fear.
  • A third moan level can cause nearby creatures to throw up.
  • A fourth moan level can cause nearby creatures to become entranced, motionless.
  • Cloakers attempt to hold a foe motionless then envelope the target.  The cloaker’s tail can fight off anyone coming to the target creature’s rescue.
  • Cloakers can also manipulate shadows to hide, create images or even make doubles of themselves.
  • Magical light cast on the cloaker may prevent its shadow-shifting abilities.
  • Sometimes they are allied with frog-like humanoids, Skum.
  • Rumors of cloaker lords also exist.  These are said to be a subrace of cloakers able to dominate other cloakers.
  • A cloaker lord near death can devour another cloaker.  If the lord is not slain, the cloaker lord splits apart, surviving, with several baby cloakers.
