Hexographer Video Review

I found this great (and long/detailed) review of Hexographer posted on youtube by nerosfiddle.  It is over 45 minutes long: the first half reviews some features while the second half goes into detail creating a map.  It is cool to see what someone can make in just 20 to 25 minutes!

A couple of tips/clarifications:

  • I find it easier/faster to do coastlines with “shapes.”
  • I think the “terrain wizard” is more powerful than the reviewer lets on.  If you start with a blank map, you can rough in the terrain (not fill every hex, just place terrain roughly where you want it) and the wizard does a nearest neighbor fill of the remaining open hexes.  Of course, you’re free to revise it afterward.

Some quotes about Hexographer from the review:

  • “A very shallow learning curve.” (4:40)
  • “It’s a very, very intuitive program to use and I’ve been having quite a lot of fun with it.” (41:05)
  • “I have not regretted purchasing the full license… I find it adds a lot to my role-playing games.” (46:40)

Thanks for the review!
