Hexographer 2 Coming Soon…

Back from vacation and ready to pick up the pace on our next project…

We don’t have an exact date yet as we’re still working on several features for the demo version, but we’re ready to start posting about this.  Expect new posts teasing new details most days until we launch.

You can go here to get on the mailing list to know exactly when we launch the project.  Yes, it will be through Kickstarter because although we know we’re going to make the program, the Kickstarter will help define the scope of the project. (Various extra features and icon sets will be stretch goals.)

Go to that link to see the feature list and to sign up to get the very first launch announcement. More screenshots and details will be posted most days.

The project will also have two new icon packs. One is an expanded version of the Alternate Classic set with Elf, Dwarf, Halfling as well as Greek, Egyptian, East Asian, etc. style icons. The other is an all new set of isometric icons similar to the games Civilization, SimCity, Age of Empires, Ceasar, etc. (The program will have a bunch of sample icons from each set included.)

The tentative reward levels will be:

  • $17 for the upgrade to Hexographer 2. (When released it will be $40.)
  • $32 for the upgrade and one new icon set.
  • $47 for the upgrade and both icon sets.
  • $200 for all of the above plus beta access and some other extras. (If you have a reward idea, please pass it along.)

Also it only seems right to add that anyone who purchased Hexographer since May 1st will get a pledge upgrade ($17 will get you the $32 reward.  $32 will get you the $47 reward, etc.,  at $200 I’ll likely send you a set of our dice or DungeonMorph, Creature, NPC, or Encounter Decks.) Anyone who buys a license between now and the start of the Kickstarter will get the same offer.

Thank you again for your support.  If you’ve got comments, please post them on the linked page or email support at inkwellideas dot com.

  1. Hi Joe – any idea when the Kickstarter will begin?

Also (not to put you on the spot), can you share any hints about what extras you have in mind for the $200 reward level? It’s quite a leap from $47 to $200, and while I love early reviews, I know I won’t have time to beta test.

  2. Thanks for your interest Erin! Not sure yet on the date. Not multiple months away. Once I get the demo in a good state. I don’t want people pledging for vaporware.

I may do a $100 alpha access level. As I posted, I was looking for something I can add at the $200 level in addition to the upgrade, both icon sets and alpha access.

  3. Will alpha/beta access require testing feedback, or is it just a chance to noodle early on? I suspect you’ll get feedback regardless – maybe the draw of those pledge levels is the opportunity to suggest new features that become stretch goals.

Or was that your cunning plan all along? 😉

  4. Very much looking forward to the new version, Joe. $17 for an upgrade is a steal, so supporting the KS for at least that much is a no-brainer in my book! I assume you’ll be sharing samples of the new icon sets? I’m curious what the racial & cultural styles will look like in the expanded Classic set.
