New at GenCon: Sidequest Decks: Horror Fantasy

This month we’ll have a few posts previewing products that we will be debuting at GenCon this year.  We’ll also make them available in our online store and DriveThru/RPGNow at about the same time. In addition to Sidequest Decks: Horror Fantasy (which this post is about), we will also debut Sidequest Decks: Arcane Academy, 5e Creature Decks: Prehistoric Creatures, and Deck of Beasts: Challenging Creatures (the CR 6-9 creatures from Kobold Press’s Tome of Beasts). Inkwell Ideas is booth 560 in the exhibitor hall.

If you’re not familiar with Sidequest Decks, they are card decks where every card is its own mini-adventure. One side is the main map area (use other cards if you need more maps–each deck is bound to have an inn, village, city, mini-dungeon, etc.), while the other side has an adventure outline. The outline starts with a sentence or two of background info for the GM, then usually two story hooks to get the adventure started, followed by several encounter ideas (don’t have to use them all, and written as non-linearly as possible), and finally one or two follow-up ideas.

They recently received a stellar review in this video!

We’ve done six decks previously broken down by genre and setting.  The Horror Fantasy deck has adventure ideas that are fantasy with some necromancy, cults, or undead involved.

The prior Sidequest Decks are available in our store, on DriveThru/RPGNow or Amazon as well as game stores that work with Indie Press Revolution.
