5e Magic Item Card Catalog Video
We recently put together a video about our 5e Magic Item Card Catalog card decks. (Scroll past the creature decks for the magic item decks. If you click on one, after a moment a discounted bundle price should appear.) The video shows a bunch of them as well as points out the advantages of these vs. the official cards. We tried to stay as factual as possible. Here is a summary:
Inkwell Ideas 5e Magic Item Card Catalog advantages:
- PDF included to print extras or available separately if you don’t want to print them yourself.
- All new art, much more variety
- One full deck of generic magic weapons & armor that the official set doesn’t have.
- Separate cards for various special armors & weapons (separate adamantine plate vs. adamantine ring mail, etc.; 3 cards for most magic swords).
- Duplicates of popular items.
Official Magic Item cards advantages (and related drawbacks):
- Cheaper.
- Thicker, laminated (but writing would still be permanent or smudge unless you write on photo-safe tape as you can with the other ones).
- Includes the 23 non-SRD items (but the Inkwell Ideas set has cards with only art for some custom items).
Even if you get the official set, you won’t have any cards for basic +1 magic armors or weapons. (Or +2, armor/weapons with special properties, etc.) And the the official set doesn’t have extras of often used items (not even a second potion of healing). In these cases, our Magic Armors & Weapons, Popular Items, and Potions & Rings decks fill in the gaps.
