This is a small release that takes care of a few fairly important bugs (well, they're very important if you're trying to do the functionality that's buggy!) and a few small features/enhancements that were already almost ready when these bugs were reported/fixed.  I expect to have another release before the holidays, but I'm not sure how much I'll get in it.  Here's what's new:

Bug Fixes:
*The transparent background is now saved as transparent. This made empty terrain to come out black and made it difficult to read a map key.  (reported by Ostlander)
*You can now load a map with new custom terrain that doesn't have a symbol/icon. (also reported by Ostlander)
*Color chooser right side swatches now have the correct color values for the bottom two rows. (Ostlander again)

Enhancements:
*"Save" vs. "Save As" menu items.  (Save used to work like a typical Save-As and there was no Save-As. (suggested by the esmale)
*Hexographer remembers the last directory you used when you attempt to load/save another file.
*Recognize permanent licenses.  If you order a lifetime license, you now get a license that is permanent for version 1.xx. When version 2.xx comes out, lifetime members will get a new free license for it, and so on.  If you bought a lifetime license, when your license expires I'll send you a new indefinite license.  If you want one now, drop me an email, I'm happy to send them.
*New Terrain: revised swamp, dead forest, dead forest hills/mountain/mountains. (suggested by Ostlander, more terrain icons coming soon.)
*Randomly add features to a map. Go to "Customize" and choose "Add Random Features" and a dialog will appear allowing you to select any number of features and set a frequency.  Then you click an "Add Random Features" button.  You can also select an "Undo/Redo" button to toggle the last set of random features on/off. (suggested by QRob001)

Two bugs have been found so there is a new update that addresses these.  You can download the new jar file from the same location.  If you're running the new version, you'll see in the "Help" "About" dialog that the version number is 1.25c, December 5th.  If you're using the free version, it has also been updated there.

These bugs were actually introduced in the 1.20 version.  Here are the details:
  • If you click any add text button, then click somewhere on the map with an empty textfield, the application will freeze.
  • When you reload a map, terrain icons (when the terrain has a feature) may show up when you meant to turn them off and vice versa due to a bug in the save code.  This has been fixed, but because the map file has the incorrect setting, you'll need to re-add those map features with the proper "Show Hex's Terrain Icon" setting.
