Cool Find: Gygax Signed Book

A couple of days ago I was at my closest local game store; Game Parlor in Chantilly, VA.  I was browsing for various monster books (manuals, pedias, etc.) as reference material for my Creature Cards project.  The store has a good selection of older games that are still brand new.

As I browsed a section of non-D&D fantasy RPGs, I saw the “Beasts of Legend” book by Gary Gygax from the Lejendary Adventure game system.  They actually had several copies and at least one was an “Author’s Edition” version vs. copies that didn’t have that on the cover.  But I couldn’t compare the two because: a) It was in shrink wrap (Game Parlor shrink wraps all their books except new comics) and b) I was in a hurry to pick up my daughter so I didn’t have time to ask them to open it which they happily do.  The author’s edition was $35 vs. $25.

I decided to splurge and found it had an author’s signature page!  As someone who didn’t get into signatures much, getting a verified signature of Gary’s was an unexpected and very pleasant surprise!
