Cityographer goes native! City map (and occupants & store inventories) generator/editor Windows version doesn’t require Java
We’ve been able to rebuild our Java-based city map editor/generator Cityographer so it doesn’t require Java to be installed and configured.
The program lets you instantly create a city map and details (residents, store inventories & prices, etc.) You can have the program do it all in one step, or run it in a step-by-step fashion and edit the map and details as you go. Everything created is always completely editable. Currently the software is focused on medieval/fantasy cities, but data and graphics for other genres are coming soon! In fact, futuristic and modern graphic sets are already available.
The program has a free version which limits you to designing towns of no more than 5000 people and you can’t change the data/icon sets.
The software runs on top of Java, which makes it Windows, Mac and Linux compatible. But now you can run it on Windows without Java! We’re still experimenting with this no-java-required technology, but it has been tested for a few weeks and there have been no error reports related to it.
The new version is the second link on the download page. (Look for the all caps “DOES NOT REQUIRE JAVA” link.)
