New: Icons Assembler! A Character Generator/Tracker & Game Manager

A few months back I reached out to Steve Kenson, creator of the Icons RPG (super-heroes) to see about taking my simple Icons RPG character creator to the next level. He was enthusiastic about it and after revising and expanding the program today it has been released! There are quite a few features of the program I’m proud of:
- In the spirit of Icons, you can make an almost completely random character. It will walk you through the process, step by step: origin, attributes, powers, specialties, etc.
- It will even suggest names (it has a bank of a few hundred names, mostly based on powers although some are generic) and give you an editable mini-background. The program has a bank of 30 backgrounds, and there are 3 versions of each background depending if the character is a hero, villain, or “it’s complicated.” It doesn’t generate qualities, which kind of need a human touch.
- Of course, you’re free to alter the random selections or re-roll as well.
- You may also start with a blank character and hand enter/edit everything.
- There is a built-in sketch tool that lets you pick a head, torso and leg style, change colors, and add some extra symbols. Or you can import your own image.
- You can load multiple characters at once. Each will have its own tab and you may reorder tabs… so a GM can load all the characters and track initiative by moving the tabs around.
- The program also includes a simple dice roller/random number generator.
- Prints to PDF with a style similar to the character sheet in the back of the Icons Assembled book.
- It is Java based, but we’ve ported it to have native Windows and Mac OSX versions. (No need to install/keep Java updated.)

I just picked up Icons Assembler and am playing with it now.
So far it looks really nice, but I was wondering if there are plans to continue to develop the program? In particular I would like to see some more export options such as pure text and formatted text.
I also like the picture generator but more options would be nice.
Yep… more updates coming soon, but it does get juggled in with 5 other priorities.
Nice product, I’ve bought it on DriveThruRPG.
A question, I have the frenc edition of Icons, is there a way that I can mod/change/translate the interface?
Sorry, while it is technically possible, I think there are a few others things we’d like to do before internationalizing all the text.
Ok, I understand. Thanks for the kick answer.
