High Seas City Icons Preview

This post has a preview of our city High Seas themed Patreon icons for December 2018 by artist/cartographer Keith Curtis. The set has a number of dock pieces, a marina, warehouses, ships, etc., plus an airship port & airship icon.  If you’re not familiar with Patreon, it is something like an opt-in monthly subscription.

Each month we’ll have 4 map icon sets: isometric map icons (good for Worldographer, but usable in Hexographer 1 as well); more flat/classic & 1e style icons for Worldographer or Hexographer; more dungeon and building interior graphics perfect for Dungeonographer; and more city/village building icons designed for Cityographer. All the graphics will be transparent PNGs, so they should be usable in other map & image editors as well.

I really enjoyed putting this together in Worldographer. I dropped the files into a “High Seas” subfolder of my worldographer folder (c:\users\<username>\worldographer\features\structure\High Seas\), then generated a city with a coastline, cleared out a few buildings that were in the marina area I wanted to use, and finally dropped these on the map.

I didn’t have “place freely” checked as I dropped these icons on the map, so as I selected them and moved and rotated them into place I have to check that box for each. Yesterday’s fix to Worldographer (1.132) made rotating them on the map when selected using the red dial (it appears when you select a feature) easy too. The pavers texture I added to the map to differentiate that area too. I used the “move to bottom” and “move up” buttons on the features drawer to position it above the grass, but below the streets.

Anyway, I think it is nice to see the new icons in use!

We post preview thumbnails of each set, and make a single paid post through Patreon at the end of the month with the actual graphics.
