DungeonMorphs: Cities Descriptions 4n, 5n, & 6n

Here is out next installment of a series that we haven’t touched in a few months: descriptions of our city DungeonMorphs!

These are simplified versions of the one to two page descriptions we created for our newest DungeonMorphs via our book of encounter ideas. These descriptions are shorter than those in the book, but they should give you some ideas for each design to get started. As always, change them up and/or add to them as much as needed to fit your setting.

Note: Each die is given a lettercode. These designs go with the “n” die, for sides 4, 5, & 6. See the image for small versions of the actual designs.

  • The largest building on the block is a square pyramid with a flat top. This is a temple to the sun god, who insists on ceremonies being held outside in full view of the god.  Stairs leading up to it run along each corner.
  • The H-like structure near the flat-top pyramid contains additional facilities for the temple: offices & small rooms for the temple’s lower level staff and monks. (Higher level staff have rooms in the temple itself.)
  • The isolated well is known for particularly refreshing water, not just despite the sun god’s outpost nearby but because of it. The sun god has a balance with the water god as these are the two primary needs of life.  So each helps the other, unless another god is attempting mischief between them.

  • This tile’s dominant building is the pyramid that ends in a point (as opposed to the one on 4n). This pyramid isn’t dedicated to one god, but instead is something of a necropolis. It has many crypts for many high level officials and influential residents going back many generations.
  • The large building near it with multiple additional is a florist. The owners Ceara and Lynn do brisk business selling various bouquets to the many visitors to the pyramid.
  • The larger building in the center top section of the tile is Argust’s Woodworking Services. He started making coffins 20 years ago, and now makes all sorts of wooden furniture and implements.  A staff of 3 journeymen and 9 apprentices work for him. He and his top journeymen do the custom work while apprentices make common items sold in other stores throughout town.

  • The hedge maze dominates this section of the city. The estate’s owner (Jaymes Kane) believes he is haunted for some past crime he won’t disclose. He often tries to lose the ghosts in the maze. If they are real they toy with him and find him in the end.  If they aren’t real, he believes they do.  He has gardeners working every day to change the maze to hopefully prevent the ghosts from getting him too quickly.
  • The statue hides some important clue of riddle to Jaymes’s crime.
  • The building itself is well-kept and clean.  Jaymes has a fortune. Whether it was earned fairly or has something to do with his state of mind is unknown, but it is a good bet the two are related. Some banker in town must know something: There must have been something suspicious about how he deposited a large amount of money…
