Ring Lord Fantasy Expanded Map Icons Preview

Inkwell Ideas runs a Patreon for new map icons every month… Each month we make 100+ total icons usually in 4 styles: isometric world/kingdom, classic world/kingdom, settlement, & battlemat based on a theme picked by our patrons. However, this month is a little different: We’re focusing on just one new map icon style that we developed a couple years ago called “Ring Lord” that is inspired by the classic Lord of the Rings maps.

Our previous release covers all the basics: mountains, hills, forests, deserts, etc. for terrain and cities, villages, castles, etc. for specific locations. It ended up being a few hundred icons in all! And we already have added to it once with a Fantastic Locations set.

This newest set has over 100 “point of interest” icons. Many are usually a fort, tower, castle, city, ruins, town, village, and capital for each of high elves, sea elves, wild elves, rock gnomes, forest gnomes, halflings, underground dwarves, and surface dwarves. Those same fort/tower/castles/city/etc. options also have ‘floating’ and ‘walled’ versions as well. Plus there are large, medium, and small settlements for Cthulhu-kin and Deep Ones. And there are some other odds and ends too like simple bridges and a Gate of Hell.

Further, each image has two versions–one light and one dark. Use them to designate factions or pick the one that looks better for your map!
