Markdown To RPG Card Creator
This tool converts markdown into a tree view for all headings in the markdown source file. Then you click checkboxes on the tree matching your character’s chosen abilities, spells, magic items and more. The tool will export the selected data as a PDF of cards when you click “create PDF”. You can edit the headings and data to customize each ability, spell, or item as well as pick export options to have it print several cards on a page, change some font settings, etc.
Download it as: a signed windows installer, an unsigned Apple OSX installer, or a Java archive (run it with Java 23+: ‘java -jar RPGCardCreator.jar’).

Currently, the tool has most of the D&D 2014 SRD data as well as much of the Black Flag (Tales of the Valiant from Kobold Press) data. We do plan to add more and let you update other markdown data files as well as export your updates but that isn’t available yet.
Other planned features:
- Implement import of custom data
- More built-in data for existing datasets. (5e creatures? 5e 2024?)
- Remember file save location.
- Allow user to set card break location when splitting cards.
- Add title to 2nd cards (‘Long Spell Name – b’).
- When exporting the cards as images, name them based on each card’s title.
Current issues:
- Title font on each exported card isn’t correct on the Windows & Mac OSX versions.
- Cards with tables of 4+ columns should rotate automatically.
