Creature Knowledge Check Cards & Mini-Adventure Cards Now Available
Early this year Inkwell Ideas did a Kickstarter to create creature info card decks as well as a couple of mini-adventure cards decks. (With the help of many artists and writers Andrew Shields, David Winterbottom and editor Chad Mercer.)
The first sets of decks are ready! They have gone out to backers (except for a few with special situations) and were availbale at GenCon. But now we have them available at our on-line store!
Creature Decks
There are 5 creature decks of 56 cards (54 creatures and 2 cards for license info):
- Aberrations & Magical Beasts
- Dragons, Undead & Outsiders
- Fey, Constructs & Wildlife (dire animals, plants that attack, etc.)
- Humanoids & monstrous Humanoids
- Animals
The front of each has amazing art, while the back has the system neutral information about the creature. Most decks have full color art except the animals deck which has black & white line art. PDFs of each are also available.
These cards are perfect for knowledge checks–if the player rolls well, give them the entire card or just read a few facts if they have an average result. They are also great for GMs as they include information on each creature’s allies and enemies so the GM can better plan an adventure. The cards also remind a GM of the creature’s battle tactics.
Each physical deck includes the matching PDF. More samples are on the linked page.
Encounter Decks
There are 2 encounter card decks, which have 56 Mini-adventures each–many possible variations. These cards are designed to make many mini-adventures (a.k.a. side treks or hex-crawl stocking). Simply draw a few until you get a mini-adventure that fits (has the setting you need). Then draw more cards when you need a map or trap idea, plot twist or unusual treasure. One side of each card has the mini adventure outline, the other side has a map and other details.

But we’re not done yet! We’ll be doing the creature cards with stats for other game systems in the coming months.
