Clergy, Rest, Secrets, Rookery

A isolated sect of priests live and worship in a remote tower. They recently had a prisoner escape. Is the prisoner dangerous or
wrongly imprisoned?

Setup: An isolated religious group’s tower is the only shelter for several hours.

Potential Plot Points:

  • The priests here here have a specific issue with a PC’s god/religion. (Perhaps one god insulted another.) A priest snubs
    the PC at dinner.
  • The priests here are able to sell the PCs potions or scrolls of healing and perhaps some other magic items.
  • This tower has a rookery. The PCs may ask to send a message: Word of their coming to their destination, send a status update to a benefactor, etc.
  • A powerful prayer went awry. In exchange for staying the night, the priests would like some help repairing one wall.
  • Vary the Challenge: The priests’ level and items they have available can be adjusted.

Possible Twist: The prayer that went “awry” was actually a prisoner who broke out.

Follow-up Adventure Ideas:

  • Does the dinner-altercation escalate?
  • Depending on the prisoner, the priests may ask for help capturing him or else they will have hidden signs of him. In the latter case, do the PCs realize the truth of the wall damage? Do they run across him anyway?
