Writober! Grumby Billows! Shadowdark Post-a-Day In October
This month is Drawtober: 31 drawing prompts related to the Shadowdark RPG, 1 a day, throughout October. But I’m borrowing the prompts for short essays. Today’s prompt is “Grumby Billows”.
To be totally transparent, I had no idea who Grumby Billows was in Shadowdark. Or in any other context either. Turns out he is a halfling thief who is one of the pre-generated characters from the first Kickstarter.
Since time is tight today, I’ll use this as a great opportunity to sing the praises of the Shadowdarklings character generator. While the Shadowdark character generation process is fairly easy anyway, having a web site where you can just click a few options and suddenly get a character is perfect. And that it will let you store them so you can improve them is a wonderful bonus.
It was sort of the inspiration for us re-writing our old Icons Super-hero RPG character creation tool in the past month. It doesn’t centrally store your character for you, but you can download it and re-load it later.
